ERIK VIEL & The Easternflyers
Whitehorse (2010)

Second album for Erik Viel and we always get a smart mix of Rock, Country Rock, Blues and Southern Rock, just like on his first album where I joined two great Southern classics, Marshall Tucker Band’s “I’ll be Loving You” and Gregg Allman’s “Coloured Lady”. Same recipe on this record with a great cover of the Marshall Tucker Band “This Ol’Cowboy” and the Allman Bros’ “Hot Lanta”. We just can say that he is gifted on the covers, just like on Fats Domino’s “Hello Josephine” close to Grinderswitch style. Let’s note a wonderful Eagles cover “Saturday Night”, but the best song is Bob Dylan’s “Senor” from 1978 Street Legal album. The we get the world hit “Wild World” of Cat Stevens. And don’t forget Erik’s own songs, the Boogie Blues “My heart’s Playing Tricks On Me” and the quiet instrumental song “Whitehorse” that finish this nice CD with its authentic nature cover, the real Erik Viel mark and his band, the Easternflyers, who are real great musicians.
